Remove weeds early
Young weeds are easier to pull and less likely to set seed. Work after rain or irrigation when soil is softer, and remove the root when possible.
Keep gravel clean
Blow or rake leaves, flowers, and fine debris before they decompose into soil. Correct low spots where sediment and water collect.
Maintain proper depth and edges
Thin areas expose soil and allow seeds to establish. Restore displaced gravel and repair borders that let adjacent turf or groundcovers creep in.
Use treatments carefully
If using herbicides, read and follow the label, protect desirable plants, and avoid spraying in wind. Consider manual or targeted methods where children, pets, or sensitive plants are present.
Watering rules, rebate programs, permit requirements, and product instructions can change. Confirm current requirements with the appropriate local agency or manufacturer.
