Do not rush into harsh cleaning

Aggressive acids or pressure can change color, damage joints, and void product guidance. Start by identifying the material and reviewing the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.

Allow the surface to dry

Some efflorescence lessens with weathering and normal cleaning. Continued moisture from irrigation, drainage, or covered areas may keep it active.

Check the water source

Redirect sprinklers that repeatedly hit pavers and correct drainage that leaves the surface wet. Hard-water deposits can also create visible residue.

Ask before sealing

Sealing over trapped moisture or active deposits can lock in discoloration. Confirm that the surface is clean, dry, and ready for the selected product.

Watering rules, rebate programs, permit requirements, and product instructions can change. Confirm current requirements with the appropriate local agency or manufacturer.
