Plan for heat
Turf in full afternoon sun can become uncomfortable. Shade structures, trees, lighter surrounding materials, and thoughtful placement improve usability. Test the surface before allowing children or pets onto it.
Keep it clean
Remove leaves and debris, rinse dust as needed, and address spills promptly. Brush high-traffic areas so fibers remain upright and infill stays distributed.
Protect drainage
Do not allow soil or mulch to wash onto the turf. Keep edges, drains, and low areas clear so water can move through the installed base.
Use it where it adds function
Turf is most valuable in defined play, pet, or gathering zones. Combining it with shade, planting, and hardscape often produces a more comfortable yard than covering every area.
Watering rules, rebate programs, permit requirements, and product instructions can change. Confirm current requirements with the appropriate local agency or manufacturer.
